The Raiders are ditching their classic green and gold jerseys for something more colourful and special. Kid Takeover Night! This Saturday, February 24, the Prince Albert Raiders are shaking things up when they face off against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
The back of those special edition jerseys will flaunt designs dreamed up by the creative minds of kids all over Prince Albert. Hundreds of doodles and drawings poured in from schools across the city, and you’ll get to see them all proudly displayed in the hallway near the Raider dressing room. Talk about a blast of youthful energy!
And hey, let’s give a big shoutout to Mann Northway for making this night happen. Mark Ripley, the Dealer Principal, expressed how honoured the Car Guys and Gals are to be part of Kid Takeover Night. They’re not just about hockey; they’re also about community and raising funds for the pediatric unit at the Victoria Hospital. So, get ready to enjoy the game, the vibrant jerseys, and the incredible art crafted by our local youth. We’re all PA proud!
Now, let’s talk about why this night is more than just hockey. The Raiders have been spreading joy at the Victoria Hospital’s pediatric unit, where they’ve been reading to kids and creating masterpieces together. The pediatric unit sees around 1,500 children every year, providing over 3,800 patient days of care. It’s a crucial service that emphasizes the need for more resources to meet the growing healthcare needs of children in the region.
Here’s a heartwarming fact: a good chunk of the pediatric care recipients are tiny tots, with over 35% under two years old and a whopping 73% under four. These little ones often need the most care and attention, especially those under close watch for conditions like respiratory issues or injuries from accidents.
But let’s not forget the real MVPs of this story – Eric Johnston, Sloan Stanick, Niall Crocker, Justice Christensen, and Max Hildebrand. These Raiders regularly visited the pediatric ward, spreading smiles and laughter. Eric and Sloan even welcomed Bryce and Carter, two patients from the ward, to the rink. Together, they designed namebars that will be proudly worn on Eric and Sloan’s jerseys during the game against the Wheat Kings.
So, mark your calendars, clear your schedules, and visit the Art Hauser Centre this Saturday. Let’s cheer on the Raiders, rock those Kid Takeover jerseys, and show our support for the amazing community spirit that makes us all PA proud!
