Detroit has given us Motown, muscle cars, and now, high-tech highways. Who knew that the road to the future would be, well, a road?
Detroit now boasts a stretch of road that’s like a buffet for electric vehicles that could revolutionize the way EVs are charged. Electreon has installed inductive-charging coils that allow EVs with the right setup to charge wirelessly while driving. This means that drivers no longer have to worry about plugging in their cars, making the process as old-fashioned as dial-up internet. Just like our smartphones can charge wirelessly, now our cars can too. Imagine a future where you can charge your car just by driving on the road.
Detroit launched the first road in the United States with wireless charging for electric cars. Not all cars can be charged, and its length is only 400 meters for now, but the pilot project aims to help popularize EVs by providing on-the-go charging. pic.twitter.com/kBHXFBNpyu
