Canada celebrates Pride month every June, and this international event draws Canadians from around the world. The whole family can enjoy Pride celebrations and parades. However, it’s also important to understand why Pride is celebrated every June.
It celebrates the gay pride protests that were started by transgender and non-conforming individuals in the 1960s. The LGBT community has made great progress since then, but there’s still much to do to improve its physical, mental, and social health.
The purpose of pride is to celebrate, but it is also to advocate. Here are some ways you can support the LGBTQ+ community.
