Some feel the first day of fall marks the end of summer, or even when the furnaces start to heat the houses again. Summer in my mind is done when it comes time to put away the garden hose. Thankfully I haven’t done that yet, but it’s also by design that I have prolonged the coiling of our hose and cutting off the water supply to the outside tap.
I’m just not that not ready yet.
I’m having some difficulty letting go of the idea that summer is over. The garden hose ready for a blast of water still keeps that Summer Vibe alive. Yet there is no garden to water, the flower bed is wilted and the grass frankly doesn’t need it. So to help my move on to the next step and find some closure in the idea that fall has started. Today I share with you my farewell letter to my garden hose, after this week I’ll have it wrapped up around a hook to hibernate for the winter.
