Today is World Mental Health Day, a time for us all to reflect on mental health and support each other. Selena Gomez just laid bare some of her deepest thoughts on the subject during an interview with fashion influencer Remi Bader at a Rare Beauty x Sephora event. The 32-year-old pop icon admitted that when the world feels too heavy, her tendency is to isolate herself, and let’s be honest—who hasn’t had that urge to hide under a blanket? Sounds like a solid plan when the going gets tough!
Selena shared what many of us feel, the tension of isolation and the comfort of having trusted people around. One of her main sources of comfort? Her 11-year-old sister, Gracie. Surprising to some, maybe, but Selena highlighted how her little sister seems to have a grounding effect on her—proving that sometimes, the younger they are, the wiser.
In the spirit of today, let’s take a leaf out of Selena’s book and check in with our support systems, lean on family or friends who make the world feel a little less daunting. After all, whether you’re a pop star or just an average Joe, mental health doesn’t discriminate.
