It seems that Tesla’s Model Y has decided to ground itself a little closer to reality. The Model Y Long Range and Performance versions have scaled their range estimates back by around 40 Kilometres.
Perhaps this is Tesla’s way of ensuring drivers don’t get caught in the middle of nowhere, with their range expectations outrunning the actual battery life like a kid chasing a balloon in the wind. Plus, we can’t help but imagine Tesla’s “diversion team” resembling a bunch of superheroes, but instead of capes, they have charging cables—an electric dream team for the range-anxious among us.
At any rate, this slice of the range numbers is like when your GPS says 10 minutes to destination, and you know, as a traffic-hardened commuter, to triple that estimate. Tesla might not have said much about these changes directly, but their cars are now more down-to-earth—or should we say, closer to the actual pavement?
