TROLLS BAND TOGETHER is a wonderful movie about brothers and sisters learning to love each other.
The brothers’ band has a glitch and gets tied up in knots, so Floyd, Spruce, and Clay quit, leaving Branch, the baby troll, behind. Years later, Branch is partners with Queen Poppy and finds out that his brother Floyd has been kidnapped by two pop singers who can’t sing. Branch and Poppy try to save Floyd by getting the band together to sing a perfect song to release him from the diamond prison. When the trolls get to the rock rage entertainment area, most of the team gets trapped by the female pop star, Velvet, who says she planned to lure them there to steal their energy and talent. Branch, Poppy and a friend remain undiscovered, however.
As seen near the end of the latest trailer for “Trolls Band Together,” the song is called “Better Place.” It will likely become a hit, considering they haven’t recorded anything since 2002. NSYNC was an obvious choice since the movie revolves around getting Justin Timberlake’s former boy band back together. In the new trailer, you can also hear their 1997 song, “I Want You Back.”
Key Takeaways
The first Trolls film is about a group of five singing brothers that implodes due to the controlling behavior of the oldest, John Dory. The baby of the group, Branch, is left to fend for himself.
Branch, now grown, has put his boy-band days behind him, but his brother Floyd has been kidnapped by Velvet and Veneer. BroZone must reunite to shatter the diamond and save their brother, all while pushing a message of sibling love and acceptance.
The biggest draw, beyond Kenan Thompson’s transcendence in the role of hip-hop singer Tiny Diamond, is the music. The colors and textures in this animated world might send some viewers into a sugar coma, but they’re perfect for kids who grew up on “Paw Patrol”.
“Trolls Band Together” is a boy-band pun film that feels like it’s trying too hard to sell toys for the holidays. But if you have to watch something 300 times in a row, you could do a lot worse.
